Some people believe that when travellers visit other countries for business or holiday purposes, they should follow the local customs such as table manners, greetings and dress code traditions. Do you agree or disagree?

It is argued by some that people should obey the regional customs during business and private trips in foreign countries. I completely agree with this assertion.

On the one hand, in my opinion, visitors should respect the local culture because the one of the purposes of visiting other nations is learning their aditional behavior and getting more owledge. Moreover, each country has a lot of distinguished tangible and intangible cultural heritage; in general, local citizens value their own culture and habits. Accordingly, tourists ought to incorporate local behavior of the host country. For instance, if a business person ignores the local rules, he/she may ruin his/her negotiations with local firms. Similarly, if travelers neglect the traditions of the host country they may not enjoy their excursions with being blamed by native people for their rude conducts.

One the other hand, I believe that visitors have a responsibility of protecting provincial convention and ideas. Nowadays, the local public try to conserve their conventional culture and architecture; destruction of memorial monuments and nature by tourists is a grave international issue. For example, in Japan, when visitors enter the traditional houses, they must take off their shoes and wear socks in order to prevent from damaging tatami mats. Therefore, to preserve the condition of the historic structures, travelers came from other districts have to be compliant with the local requests.

In conclusion, some claim that tourists from foreign places are required to keep the native rules. I support this view altogether, as individuals, especially non-native people, should respect country-specific customs in terms of appreciating and retaining the cultural legacies.
